Management Board

Orion Namibia Pension & Provident Funds

The board comprises of 8 – 10 Trustees (excluding the Principal Officer).
The Board is representative of the Orion Namibia Fund’s commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion. The Board Members have extensive experience and complementary skills required to govern the Fund effectively and properly.

The Board Members are respected professionals with practical experience in the administration of retirement funds, knowledge of the financial services and legal industries, and expertise in all investment, actuarial, accounting, and social aspects of effective fund management. On-going Board Member capacity building is encouraged within the Fund.

The Fund is a member of the Retirement Fund Institution of Namibia (RFIN) and BATSETA who is a professional industry body that helps Trustees and Principal Officers of Retirement Funds to fulfil their roles in a professional manner.

The Board has established committees to assist in carrying out its responsibilities. The Committees include:

1. Communications Sub – Committee
2. Death Claims Sub – Committee
3. Finance and Audit Sub-Committee
4. Investment Sub-Committee

• Always act in the best interests of the members of the Fund.
• Choose a range of suitable investment managers and investment options.
• Communicate regularly to members.
• Equitable distribution of death benefits to beneficiaries.

• Respond to disputes and prevent conflicts of interest.
• To govern the Fund within the relevant legal and regulatory framework.

Meet the Trustees

Benny Amuenje Chairperson of the Board Mr. Benny Amuenje has over 20 years of managerial expertise spanning finance, local governance, solid waste management, public health, human resources management and the medical aid industry. He serves on various boards and committees, contributing his vast knowledge and strategic foresight to drive institutional excellence. Appointed: July 2020 As Chairperson, Mr. Amuenje leads with integrity, vision and a deep commitment to safeguarding the future of every member of the Fund. His leadership is defined by an unwavering belief in ethical governance and sustainable progress. Hinasha Mbudje Deputy Chairperson
Ms. Hinasha Mbudje is an admitted Legal Practitioner of the High Court of Namibia with over 11 years’ experience in the legal sector. She holds several esteemed qualifications, including Chartered International Company Secretary, LLB (Hons) (University of Pretoria), PG Dip: Risk & Compliance Management (University of Johannesburg), Governance Professional Degree (University of the Witwatersrand) and has completed a Management Development Programme (MDP). Appointed: October 2019 Ms. Mbudje serves as Chairperson of the Orion Death Claims Sub-Committee and is driven by a passion for excellence, good governance, and empowering institutions to thrive through sound legal and ethical frameworks.
Hilda Basson Namundjebo Trustee Mrs. Hilda Basson-Namundjebo is a Chartered Public Relations Practitioner with over 25 years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, and leadership development. She began her career with training in Television Production and Engineering in Germany, laying a strong technical foundation for her work in media and communications. A graduate of the Dr. John Maxwell Leadership Academy (Equip), Mrs. Basson-Namundjebo has further strengthened her leadership and strategic capabilities through the Executive Development Programme at the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Appointed: August 2022 She currently serves as Chairperson of the Orion Communications Sub-Committee, where she advocates for impactful and trust-building communication that inspires members. Marco Erasmus Trustee Mr. Marco Erasmus is a qualified Chartered Accountant with more than 15 years of commercial experience in the Southern African financial services market. He has served as a trustee on various retirement funds and trust boards and is currently the Chairperson of the Orion Audit Sub-Committee. Appointed: May 2024
Mr. Erasmus is committed to upholding the highest standards of financial stewardship, transparency and accountability, ensuring that the Fund remains a pillar of security and trust for all its members.
Deon Gerber Trustee Mr. Deon Gerber is a seasoned finance executive and dedicated trustee with nearly two decades of experience in the local authority sector. He has been instrumental in shaping financial strategies and governance frameworks since 2006. He actively serves on the Orion Death Claims Subcommittee and Communications Subcommittee. Appointed: June 2017 Mr. Gerber is deeply committed to ethical stewardship, member advocacy and financial integrity. His contributions reflect his passion for building resilient governance systems that place members’ best interests at the forefront. Ingo Schneider Trustee Mr. Ingo Schneider is a qualified Chartered Accountant with over 29 years of experience across corporate finance, investment banking and business restructuring. He has served as CFO of one of Namibia’s largest mines and is a Certified Systems Auditor. He is well known for his contributions to boards, investment committees and charitable organizations and currently chairs the Orion Investments Subcommittee. Appointed: February 2023

Selma Shaanika Trustee
Ms. Selma Shaanika is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch. With a strong academic and professional background in finance, she brings extensive experience in financial management, corporate governance, and strategic planning. Appointed: October 2019 Ms. Shaanika contributes robust financial acumen and strategic foresight. She is a firm advocate for responsible leadership and is passionate about creating sustainable, long-term value for members.
Ndapandula Tshitayi Trustee
Ms. Ndapandula Tshitayi is a Chartered Accountant (Namibia & South Africa) with extensive experience in finance and business strategy. She holds a B.Compt (Hons) from the University of South Africa, a B.Compt from the University of Namibia and a Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA) from the University of South Africa. Appointed: February 2023 Ms. Tshitayi is passionate about leveraging financial innovation and strategic planning to strengthen governance and ensure the sustainable growth of the Fund.
Ramon Hansen Principal Officer
Mr. Ramon Hansen is a seasoned executive with over 15 years of experience in the pension fund industry. He holds an MBA from the University of the Free State and has served in various senior leadership positions within the financial services sector. Appointed: November 2018 As Principal Officer, Mr. Hansen is driven by a vision to empower members with financial security and confidence in their future. He leads with integrity, collaboration and a commitment to excellence.
Chasanareen Cloete Assistant Principal Officer
Mrs. Chasanareen “Chasa” Cloete holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (CFP). She has 18 years of experience in the pension fund industry, offering a wealth of operational and strategic expertise. Appointed: January 2019
Mrs. Cloete is passionate about fostering financial literacy and ensuring that every member receives the guidance and support they need to build a secure retirement
